College FB: KANSAS at KANSAS STATE (11/7)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL — November 7

KANSAS at KANSAS STATE
(Kansas -2.5, Total 55.5) — This in-state rivalry takes on a new, yet familiar flavor, with Bill Snyder back at the helm for K-State. [private] Yet Mark Mangino was the guy in the news this past week, as Todd Reesing, his steady quarterback presence for four years, was benched last week and is pretty pissed off about it. While we don’t doubt that Reesing can bounce back and be productive, we must note that KU’s problems of late are for real. They’ve gotten little balance from their running game, as Toben Opurum and Jake Sharp have slumped. Snyder is gradually getting his Wildcats to the point where they are competitive again, and they recently dealt out a pair of stinging losses to vulnerable Big 12 rivals Texas A&M (62-14) and Colorado (20-6). He’s got some variety at his quarterback spot, with Carson Coffman and Grant Gregory, a South Florida transfer (stuck behind Matt Grothe there) who offers some mobility and smarts. K-State running back Daniel Thomas may actually be the most explosive weapon on the field Saturday. Snyder is not a welcome sight to Jayhawk fans, as his teams covered ten times in a row in this rivalry during his tenure.
