COLLEGE BASKETBALL — December 19
MICHIGAN at KANSAS
(Kansas 19.5) — [private] Michigan likes to play the up-tempo game, and takes a lot of threes. That’s John Beilein’s way of life. Kansas can certainly beat them at their own game, as the Jayhawks are shooting 51% from the field and averaging 90 points, both among the highest figures in Division I basketball. Kansas most assuredly has the stars to make the difference here, with point guard Sherron Collins and center Cole Aldrich bona fide All-America candidates. But don’t discount what Manny Harris, a do-everything point man for the Wolverines (22 points, 8.4 rebounds and five assists) can accomplish, and DeShawn Sims can help Michigan stay competitive underneath. Remember that the this same group from the Maize and Blue scored big upsets in the non-conference schedule against UCLA and Duke last season, and if they can get reasonably hot from the arc, they can cause some anxiety in a Kansas team that barely escaped by two points against Memphis in their biggest test yet.
