The Internet is a vast place. You can go a lot of places for information. Believe me, the problem isn’t getting access to data. It’s raw. It’s out there. The challenge comes in how you process and interpret the data. That’s the difference between a handicapper and someone who’s just reading. Have you ever heard the term “Overanalysis leads to paralysis”? It’s very easy to get lost amidst all the information. What I do is help you get through that, or give you the help you need if you don’t have time for all that.
I have been around this business, in one way or another, for years, and I’ve learned just as much what to avoid as what to implement. I don’t know if I’ve seen it all, but I’ve seen enough. I know that when you turn on the TV and someone is screaming at you, pitching 80% winners or something like that, the rationale is that volume and “enthusiasm” are supposed to take the place of substance. It’s a distortion, and a distraction at the same time. My experience is that I have run across very few genuine handicappers. They fit more into the category of “marketing and sales company.” Beyond being able to regurgitate a few trends, I’m not sure most of them have much in the way of material at all.
I remember being told 20 years ago by a veteran of this business, “People want to buy the lie, pure and simple.” I like to think that isn’t completely true. Even so, that’s not the customer we’re looking for. I think, for the most part, people want to be treated with respect by someone who is sincerely looking to help them, rather than shove something down their throat, and so that is what we set out to do.
I like helping people do this. If we’re doing our job, they can learn from what we’re showing them, and they’ll become more educated consumers in the long run.
I don’t want anyone to get me wrong – we’re going to aggressively advocate for our service. But I’m not very comfortable shouting at people. I’m not interested in blurting out a lot of phony promises or guarantees. I will make one guarantee that’s 100% legit – that this service will do its level best – day in and day out – to help you get on the plus side.
My style is that I do an analysis, because I want you to know why I like a play. I know there are not a lot of guys like that. Maybe they don’t know. Maybe they’re flipping a coin, or using someone else’s plays. I want you to come to understand the logic behind why we do everything.
This is not an easy undertaking for anybody. We’re not going to win every day, or every week. We’ll go through slumps. We’ll have torrid winning streaks. The key is that in the long run we’re going to be on the plus side. If you’re the type who falls for someone’s promises of 80% winners, you’re probably not going to be happy – here or anywhere.
